Beers
We, brewery in the middle of the city, are the first brewery in Ghent after a long histrory of 360 breweries. The last one closed its doors in 1969. In 2009, we reopened the beer history of Ghent with a Medieval beer: an ale without hops. We survived thanks to the unique character of the brewery and this special recipe, created by a woman. A stubborn, pain in the ass, woman, who acted in opposition to some famous university professors who did not believe in making beer without hops. With her charmes, she convinced the professors and the university to work all together for two years on a research project: a beer without hops, the origin of all beers. This woman, with an exhaustive science background also shows a big interest in art, theater, culture and history in general. That is why she discovered that, during the Middle Ages, people used anamorphosis to hide pornographic and erotic pictures. An artform she used for her glasses and coasters. Also, discover the libido increasing effect of this special herb beer…
