Michigan produces 75-80% of the U.S. supply of tart cherries on an annual basis, with the capacity to produce 275-300 million pounds annually. Michigan currently has 425 tart cherry growers and 36 processors. The U.S. is the world’s largest producer of “Montmorency” tart cherries.
