Dried taxus baccatta leaves for extraction of 10-DAB-III (10-deacetylbaccatin) for oncology API’s
Our company is looking for potential customers who just extract the intermediate 10-DAB-III (10-deacetylbaccatin) in order to mainly make oncology API’s (paclitaxel - better known under the name “Taxol”, docetaxel, cabazitaxel). These API’s are used in many kinds of cancer treatments.
1. Our activity: harvesting, collecting and processing taxus baccatta leaves. The taxus baccatta in our region is of very nice quality and therefore popular.
2. Product twe mainly sell: dried taxus baccatta leaves – dried on the correct way, and nicely sieved out the branches. These goods are packed in polybags of around 12 kgs / bag. The quality of the taxus baccatta leaves mainly depends on the contents of 10-DAB-III (%) into the dried taxus baccatta. Our content of material is very nice and is between 1750 and 2100 ppm of active content.
3. About our production facilities and operational flow: This year, our company has invested in a completely new production line and. Therefor we strongly focus on a professional production flow, this means:
a. Completely automatic and computer-controlled production line, also with nice sieving equipment to only select the nicest material for our customers.
b. From the collection of the freshly cut taxus baccatta clippings, we process everything within 12 hours after the collection. (this means until packing into the bag)
c. We work strictly according to GACP / GMP guidelines
d. Strictly described SOP’s for every workflow in our company
e. Strict sampling and testing procedures.
We would like to invite potential customers to visit our production line in order to convince them from our professional working way.
4. Usage of the taxus baccatta leaves: Dried taxus baccatta leaves are used for extraction of 10-DAB-III (10-deacetylbaccatin) in order to mainly make oncology API’s (paclitaxel - better known under the name “Taxol”, docetaxel, cabazitaxel).
10-Deacetylbaccatins are a series of closely related natural organic compounds isolated from the Taxus Baccatta. 10-Deacetylbaccatin III is a precursor to the anti-cancer drugs docetaxel and paclitaxel.
5. Explanation of paclitaxel (Taxol) and what it is used for:
a. Paclitaxel is an anti-cancer ("antineoplastic" or "cytotoxic") chemotherapy drug. It is classified as a "plant alkaloid," a "taxane".
b. Paclitaxel is used for the treatment of breast, ovarian, lung, bladder, prostate, melanoma, esophageal, as well as other types of solid tumor cancers. It has also been used in Kaposi's sarcoma. Kaposi sarcoma is a cancer of the skin and mucous membranes that is commonly found in patients with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS).
c. Paclitaxel is given as an injection or infusion into the vein (intravenous, IV).
d. Paclitaxel belongs to the group of medicines called antineoplastics. It interferes with the growth of cancer cells, which are eventually destroyed. Since the growth of normal body cells may also be affected, other unwanted effects will also occur.
6. Explanation of docetaxel and what it is used for:
a. Synthetic approaches to paclitaxel production led to the development of docetaxel. Docetaxel has a similar set of clinical uses to paclitaxel and is marketed under the name of Taxotere (by Sanofi-Aventis). Docetaxel is a semi-synthetic analogue of paclitaxel (Taxol).
b. Docetaxel is a treatment for breast cancer, lung cancer, head and neck cancer, prostate cancer and stomach cancer. You may also have it as part of trials for other types of cancer such as ovarian cancer and bladder cancers.
c. It works by stopping the cancer cells from separating into 2 new cells, so it blocks the growth of cancer.
d. Docetaxel is given as an injection or infusion into the vein.
7. Customer range: Some of our customers just extract the intermediate 10-DAB-III, and some other also make the final API (paclitaxel, docetaxel, cabazitaxel). The API’s are used in many kinds of cancer treatments.
For the potential customers, we could think about 2 potential ways:
- Customers who can do the extraction of 10-DAB-III by themselves in order to make the final API, or;
- Customers who sell the final oncology medicines (paclitaxel, docetaxel, cabazitaxel), and who are looking for a complete professional vertical integration of the complete supply chain until the source of the raw material.
Potential other interest: as we have a very professional production line for drying, sieving and packing medicinal plants, we could also process other European medicinal plants. If there would be interest to buy other European medicinal plants, then we would also be open for co-operation.
