Steel Products (rebars, steel sheets and plates, wire and wire rod, tubes and pipes, angles, shapes and sections)
As you’ve already know the supply chains are difficult during the war in Ukraine. Lithuanian businesses are looking a new partners to buy steel products.
It should be noted that:
- Lithuanian engineering and construction sectors are heavily dependent on imports of steel and iron (total steel and iron imports amount to 1.2 billion EUR). Russia, Belarus and Ukraine account for 36% of all Lithuania’s iron and steel imports.
- There are 6 categories of steel and iron products where Lithuania is highly dependent on imports from Russia and Belarus:
- Bars and rods, hot-rolled, in irregularly wound coils, of iron or non-alloy steel (7213) – 72% (56 million EUR) imported from Russia and Belarus;
- Rebars (7214) – 61% (105 million EUR) imported from Russia and Belarus;
- Wire of iron or non-alloy steel (7217) – 84% (68 million EUR) imported from Russia and Belarus;
- Bars and rods of other alloy steel (7228) – 77% (70 million EUR) imported from Russia;
- Other bars and rods of iron or non-alloy steel (7215) – 39% (9 million EUR) imported from Russia;
