Belgian Specialty beer
Ever since the 15th century this Belgian brewery has been located in the historical center of the medieval city of Bruges. Since 1856 the brewery has been in the hands of the same family. Nowadays, the 6th generation of the family is running the brewery since 2005. This brewery is home to the iconic brands Brugse Zot, Straffe Hendrik and Blanche de Bruges. Due to the rapid expansion of the brewery in the past years, the owner decided to connect the brewery, in the center of the historic city of Bruges, with the bottling plant outside of the city. In that way, creating the world famous beer-pipeline of 3.2km that runs underneath the historic city to the bottling plant. All beers from this brewery are made according to the high quality and passion that the family has passed on for generations during the past 150 years. Besides the high quality and premium image of the brands, the brewery is considered to be an innovator in the beer-world. In 2014, the specialty beer and limited edition of Straffe Hendrik Wild was launched, based on the Straffe Hendrik Tripel, a limited edition was released with a second fermentation on bottle with Brettanomyces yeast. Reeling in the price for most innovative product back in 2014. In 2018 the brewery launched the first alcohol free specialty beer from Belgium called SportZot, at 0,4% and with a fantastic taste, it was the first of its kind. Apart from these 'specials', the brewery is notorious for Brugse Zot, Straffe Hendrik and Blanche de Bruges, beers that are available all year around in bottles and kegs.
Products are available in more than 40 countries world-wide but still 60% of the volumes are sold in Belgium. Export has been rapidly expanding thanks to the export oriented strategy of the Brewery and the respect for tradition and premium image of the brands in the domestic market.
